Random Musings About the Power of Your Thoughts

Four years ago, I won ₱ 50,000 (~US$ 1000) in a raffle at our company Christmas party. The raffle draw was done electronically. The screen on the stage flashes the employee number of the winner. The rule was that only employees present at the party were eligible to win. And when your employee number shows up on the screen, you need to turn on the flashlight of your mobile phone to let them know that you are the winner.

As the employee number of the next winner was being drawn, I already prepared my phone. It was as if I knew that my employee number will be the number that will be flashed on the screen. Days before that, I kept thinking that I will win in the raffle. And I did! I won ₱ 50,000 tax-free.

Earlier today, my bestie sent to me her new Instagram post (see picture below). She said she remembered me when she got the gift, because of that story four years ago.

Those stories above clearly show how powerful your thoughts are. Because the law of attraction is real. You attract whatever you focus on. Things are easier to achieve when your mind is set on it.

And then we had the realization that maybe we haven’t been doing well in the previous months until now because we kept dwelling on the bad things happening in our lives instead of staying positive. The more we focused on those things, the more we attract negative vibes. So our situation never gets better.

Think about it, when things are not doing well in your life, you tend to focus on the bad things. All you have are negative thoughts. You get so frustrated because the bad things happening to you are never-ending. And you probably start losing enthusiasm. You forget that there are still a lot of things in your life that you should be thankful for. You just want to lay on the bed all day or sit on the couch and sulk. Could it be that your negative thoughts are probably attracting negative energy in your life so they just keep coming?

And so today, my friend and I agreed that we’re changing our mindset. We’ll stay positive from now on. Instead of thinking about all the bad things that might happen, we’ll start thinking about all the good things that will happen in our life.

We both want to visit Europe someday, but both of us are broke right now. And this pandemic is still not over. But we’ll keep wanting it because someday the universe will conspire and we will be able to make it a reality.

And I guess that’s how I should be with my ex. Maybe I should keep hoping that we’ll get back together someday when our stars align again. I still love him. Maybe the circumstances didn’t work in our favor right now, but maybe someday it will. I hope it will.

And with that, I would like to end this post with my favorite quote. I think I need to keep reminding myself about this:

And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.
