My birthday is about to end in a few minutes. For the past 4 years (except 2017*) I have been spending my birthday in a place I have never been to yet. If there wasn’t a pandemic right now, I would have continued that tradition. Earlier this year, I was considering Timor Leste for my birthday. But because of the current situation, I’m stuck at home.
Spending your birthday during a pandemic might not be the best, but close friends and family made it special. Last night, two hours before midnight, my mom posted on Facebook a video birthday greeting she prepared for me. She used to prepare collage, but this year she has leveled up. I told her she posted two hours early. She said she wanted to be the first person to greet me, and also she was very excited to post her work. I found it very funny and at the same time very sweet. I mean not all moms do that right? A few minutes after the post, people started greeting me a happy birthday.
Then this morning when I woke up, I got more birthday greetings. What am I trying to say in this post? Though my birthday this year is an uneventful one (I spent the day working in the shop), I am still happy because people who I have been close to at one point in my life took their time to make me feel special on my birthday. I may not have been talking to them regularly, but today they remembered and took the time to greet me. And it wasn’t just a simple birthday greeting.
A friend who is now living in Australia made a video call to greet me. I wasn’t expecting that tbh but it made me happy. My old friends told me they miss me. Some asked how I am doing, where I am right now, and if I’m happy right now. One friend suggested that because I can’t go anywhere, I should just go to the beach. Oh, and one of my best friends made a really nice Instagram post that made me feel super nostalgic. She mentioned about all the crazy things we’ve been doing during college days.
Anyway, enough of all this blabber. I guess I just missed writing. I haven’t done this in a while. If you are reading this post right now, thank you for taking the time to read this. I know not too many people read my posts. Good night and happy birthday to me.
*In 2017, the day before my birthday, there was a scheduled court hearing that I had to attend so I spent my birthday in La Union.
