Stella’z Guesthouse Review: Where to Stay in Siquijor, Philippines

Last Updated on April 27, 2023 by Tina

Planning to travel to Siquijor but don’t know where to stay in Siquijor? I highly recommend Stella’z Guesthouse in the town of San Juan.

A few weeks ago, I revisited Siquijor with a friend. We stayed for 2 nights in San Juan, and 2 nights in Lazi. And on our last night, we stayed near the port because we had an early trip to Tagbilaran the following day. Most tourists make San Juan their base when visiting Siquijor.  It has some of the best beaches on the island, has good restaurants, most hostels, hotels, and resorts can be found here, and it is the place to go for nightlife.

We stayed at Stella’z Guesthouse on our first two nights in Siquijor. When we were looking for a place to stay, we checked the map for properties located near the beach with good reviews. Stella’z was one of the two properties we were considering. We ended up booking Stella’z because it has the same price as the other property and it has something the other property doesn’t have- a mini ref in the room.

When we finally got to the property, we were very satisfied with our choice. It’s funny because we were rating the room while we were there, from the bed to the bathroom, and even the advertisement posted on the wall. Let me share with you our review of Stella’z Guesthouse.

Stella’z Guesthouse Review

Stella’z Guesthouse Location

Located in the town of San Juan, Stella’z Guesthouse has a great location. It is along the Siquijor Circumferential Road. It is within walking distance of Maite Beach and the Tubod Marine Sanctuary. Stella’z is near restaurants, cafes, and bars. It is just a 3-minute motorbike ride to the town center where the public market, groceries, and gasoline station are located, and 10 minutes to Paliton Beach.

The Room

We booked a Deluxe Queen Room. The room was big and very clean and it has everything we need. It has a nightstand on both sides of the bed. It has a big closet with a lock, a TV with lots of channels to choose from, a fridge, a kettle, and an aircon. The aircon worked well. The bed was very comfortable. Towels were provided.

I don’t normally comment on the size of the bathroom, but I would like to mention that our bathroom was very spacious. And it has a hot shower. Soap and shampoo were provided.

Outside there is a small table and chairs where you can smoke. It is where I worked when we were there. There is also a clothes rack where you can hang wet clothes.

Aside from the private room, Stella’z Guesthouse also has a dormitory room for solo travelers. I haven’t seen the room but from what I have read in the reviews, the dorm rooms are good too.

Stella’z Guesthouse Facilities

Stella’z Guesthouse has a parking lot for motorbikes in front (near the road) and inside. It also has a shared kitchen, in case you want to cook.

This is the front of the property. You can park your motorbike here during day time.
Stella'z Guesthouse also has this covered parking lot inside where you can park at night.

There is free wifi that worked well during our stay. The internet connection in Siquijor is not that good, but I managed to work using the wifi of the property. I was even able to attend a Zoom meeting and had no problems with the connection.

Stella’z Guesthouse has a water refilling station where you can refill drinking water for free.

In the first part of this post, I mentioned the advertisement posted on the wall in our room. When my friend read it, he said “Stella’z is really good. It has everything. They offer massage, have vehicles for hire, and they also sell beer.” Yes, they have everything. you can even buy beachfront land from them. 😂

The Staff

The staff in Stella’z Guesthouse were very friendly and accommodating. They assisted us when we checked in, and they answered sufficiently all our questions. They also gave suggestions on where to eat.

Stella’z Guesthouse Price

So after reading everything about the property, you must be wondering how much it costs to stay in Stella’z Guesthouse. The price varies depending on where you book, and depending on the season. When I checked with Booking.com, their price is cheaper during the lean season.

We stayed there during the Holy Week, so it was peak season. We paid Php 1150 (around US$21) per night for the room. That’s way cheaper than the accommodations here in La Union. (The average price here is Php 1000 per person).

And if you want cashback from your hotel bookings, I recommend using WayAway Plus. Book a property on Booking.com or Hostelworld through WayAway Plus and you will receive your cashback after your stay.

Stella’z Guesthouse Policies and Conditions

Summary

We loved everything about Stella’z Guesthouse. I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Siquijor. If you are traveling on a budget but want a private room, Stella’z Guesthouse is the place. It has a very good location, very close to the beach and to restaurants and bars. The room and bathroom are spacious and clean, and the bed is comfortable. It is reasonably priced and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. As my friend said, he would give them a 7 stars rating in Google Maps review if he could. Unfortunately in Google, the highest rating you can give is 5 stars only.

Stella’z has a 9.1 rating on Booking.com and 9.5 on Agoda. That’s high compared to the other properties in Siquijor.
